Number of bed days occupied by delayed discharges in each calendar month, by council area, age group and reason for delay. Data is included from April 2012 to June 2016 and due to definitional changes effective 1 July 2016, are not comparable to figures reported after this date.

| CA | text | Each Council area has a unique nine digit code identifying the council area / local authority of residence for the delay, based on the boundaries as at the time of delay | |
| CAQF | text | Qualifier for CA indicating aggregated data and data not available due to the CA of residence not in Scotland | |
| AgeGroup | text | Age grouping is calculated as at the person's ready for discharge date | |
| AgeGroupQF | text | Qualifier for AgeGroup indicating aggregated data | |
| ReasonForDelay | text | Reason for delay indicates the principal reason grouping for a person's delay at the end of the reporting month | |
| ReasonForDelayQF | text | Qualifier for ReasonForDelay indicating aggregated data | |
| NumberOfDelayedBedDays | numeric | The number of delayed bed days within the calendar month | |
| AverageDailyNumberOfDelayedBeds | numeric | The average daily number of delayed beds is calculated by dividing the total number of delayed discharge bed days in the month by the number of days in the calendar month. |
