Open Data Standards

All data hosted on the Scottish Health and Social Care Open Data platform follows the open data standards set out by Public Health Scotland, ensuring consistency across the platform.

The CKAN Application Programming Interface (API)

You can access all our data through the CKAN API. This is an open API that allows you to access the websites functionality, and unlock additional features, by using external code. The API is ideal for building apps around the data.

All our open data has been assessed for confidentiality

Before data is released on the open data platform it is first assessed for statistical disclosure. This means there are a few cases where we have suppressed or rounded numbers to protect confidentiality. This can mean that you find numbers that may not add up to their totals.

Our Privacy Notice tells you what personal information we use as an organisation, what our legal basis is for using it and how we protect it. It also explains what your rights are under data protection law, how you can ask to see your information and what to do if you have any concerns about how we manage personal information.

CKAN

This platform uses CKAN, an open source software solution that provides tools for publishing, sharing, finding and using data. It powers a variety of official and community data portals worldwide including portals for local, national and international government.
