This resource presents daily vaccinations in Scotland by JCVI priority group.

6th April 2021:This resource has been updated to include data from 5th April. We are working with the analytical team to understand and resolve the missing JCVI breakdowns between 1-4th April.

Individuals who are on the shielding list and are residents of a care home for older adults are updated on a monthly basis. These groups will be updated on the daily dashboard and corresponding open data on the 26th of each month, or Friday before if the 26th falls on a weekend.

Definitions used in this resource are:

Care home residents

Denominator definition: We do not report a denominator here as we cannot accurately derive a total population size over time for this group.

Numerator definition: The total number of individuals recorded as resident in a care home in the Vaccine Management Tool (VMT) at the point of vaccination, who have been vaccinated since the start of the vaccination roll-out.

Care home residents - older adults

Denominator definition: Number of individuals who are resident in a care home for older adults according to the Care Home Flag and/or their residential location in the Community Health Index (CHI) database .  Individuals who have died since the snapshot was taken are removed from both the numerator and the denominator. The CHI extract is updated on a monthly basis, the first extract was taken in February 2021 and from 26/04/21, extract was taken from 15 April 2021.

Numerator definition: All those from the denominator list who have received the vaccination. Individuals who have died since the snapshot was taken are removed from both the numerator and the denominator

Staff working in care homes

Denominator definition: The denominator is taken from the TURAS Care Home Safety Huddle Tool, which provides an estimate of those working in long-stay residential and nursing care homes or other long-stay care facilities for older adults. This includes non-clinical ancillary staff who may have social contact with resident but are not directly involved in patient care, such as cleaners and kitchen staff. Please note the huddle tool is self-reported by care homes and not quality assured centrally. Latest data from February 2021 estimates that there are around 50,000 staff (to the nearest 1,000) in care homes for older adults. Please note that vaccinations within GP practices do not include eligibility criteria, therefore Public Health Scotland are unable to capture care home staff who have been vaccinated in GP practices. The number of people vaccinated in this group will therefore be an undercount.

Numerator definition: Number of people recorded in the Vaccine Management Tool (VMT) at the point of vaccination as being a staff member working in a care home.

Any frontline health and social care worker

Denominator definition: We do not report a denominator here as we cannot accurately derive a total population size for the broad range of different types of role this definition covers.

Numerator definition: The total number of individuals recorded as a frontline health and social care worker in the Vaccine Management Tool (VMT) who have been vaccinated since the start of the vaccination roll-out

Frontline health care workers – specified roles

Denominator definition: Percent coverage of a snapshot list of registered NHS staff with the job family nursing/midwifery, medical and dental, ambulance services, Allied Health Professions and registered GPs. The snapshot list was taken as at December 2020. This estimate does not include private contractors such as pharmacists and dentists as this information is not available to Public Health Scotland. This is a narrower definition than the JCVI guidance, but is the best estimate possible with the information available.

Numerator definition: All those from the denominator list who have received the vaccination

Frontline social care workers – specified roles

Denominator definition: Percent coverage of a snapshot list of registered Scottish Social Services Council staff. The snapshot list was taken as at December 2020. This is a narrower definition than the JCVI guidance, but is the best estimate possible with the information available

Numerator definition: All those from the denominator list who have received the vaccination

Clinically extremely vulnerable individuals

Denominator definition: All individuals aged 16+ who were on the shielding list. Individuals who have died since the snapshot was taken are removed from both the numerator and the denominator. This list is reviewed on a monthly basis, original reporting was based on those shiedling as at 29 January 2021, and from 31/03/21, was updated using shielding list as at 8 April 2021.

Numerator definition: All those from the denominator list who have received the vaccination. Individuals who have died since the snapshot was taken are removed from both the numerator and the denominator

16-64 year olds with underlying health conditions

Denominator definition: All individuals aged 16-64 who have been identified as having the underlying conditions which put them at higher risk of disease and mortality, as specfied by JCVI. Individuals who have died since the snapshot was taken are removed from both the numerator and the denominator. The source of this data is GP Practice patient records. A snapsnot was taken of this group as at March 2021.

Numerator definition: All those from the denominator list who have received the vaccination.

Unpaid carers

Denominator definition: We do not report % coverage as we cannot accurately derive a total population size for the self-registration.

Numerator definition: Those who have received Carer’s Allowance, Child Winter Heating Allowance or Young Carer’s Allowance during 2020/21 or those who have self-registered as carers.
