Teenage Pregnancy

This dataset provides an annual update on teenage pregnancy statistics in Scotland. It is based on the age at conception and presented by year of conception. Data is presented by NHS Board, council area and deprivation for the age groups of under 16, under 18 and under 20 years old and reports on pregnancies and outcome (delivery and termination).

Time frame of data and timeliness NRS birth registrations are finalised and provided to PHS while termination data is published by PHS prior to the release of teenage pregnancy statistics.
Coverage Reports data across NHS Scotland from 1994.
Completeness Considered complete. There may be a very small number of late abortion notification forms received. Data are then revised at following year's update.
Accuracy Abortion notification information on forms is clerically checked and also validated at data entry and NRS birth registrations data are not supplied to ISD until considered final. Statistics are compared to previous year's figures.
Continuity of data Data is continuously reported since 1994.
