Appropriate Birthweight for Gestational Age
Data on the appropriateness of birthweights for gestational age at birth, for live singleton births only. It is important to be able to differentiate between babies who are light because they are preterm and those who are inappropriately light after adjustment for gestational age at birth.
Babies are identified as appropriate weight for gestational age with a birthweight between the 10th and 90th percentiles. Babies identified as small or large for gestational age are those whose birthweight is under the 10th or over the 90th percentile respectively.
