Alcohol consumption in pregnancy is collected at a woman's antenatal booking appointment. Data is presented by deprivation and health boards.

Data on alcohol consumption is based on self-reported information. The reliability of self-reported alcohol consumption is well known to be problematic. It is likely that, for some NHS health boards, the SMR02 data presented do not reflect the true average weekly alcohol consumption during pregnancy due to under reporting of the data. Results should therefore be interpreted with caution.
