Time frame of data and timeliness Presented by calendar year of conception. Both data sources are considered complete and there are generally no delays.
Coverage Reports data across NHS Scotland from 1994.
Completeness Considered complete.
Accuracy Birth registration data are not supplied to PHS until considered final. The number of late termination submissions is generally very small, and these records would be included in the refresh the following year.
Continuity of data Data is continuously reported since 1994.

Disclosure The PHS statistical disclosure protocol has been followed.
Revision statement Termination data are re-extracted and refreshed each year to mitigate against late keying of data which may have resulted in a very small number of records not being included at the time of publication release.
