Information on probable suicides registered in Scotland in the period 2011-2019, by healthcare service contacted prior to death and SIMD deprivation quintile. The period for contact before death is 3 months for A&E Attendance, and 12 months for all other services.

| SIMDQuintile | text | The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) uses a wide range of information for small areas (data zones) to identify concentrations of multiple deprivation across Scotland. The data zones are then arranged in five groups (quintiles), ranging from the most deprived (1 - contains the 20% most deprived datazones) to the least deprived (5 - contains the 20% least deprived datazones). Individuals were allocated to a SIMD quintile based on their postcode of residence at the time of death, using the SIMD version published in 2016 for all years.. | |
